ALSAGER SCOUTING MEMORABILIA WANTED1st Alsager Scout Group   22/01/2008

This is a very historic year for the 1st Alsager Scout Group as they are celebrating 100 years of Scouting in Alsager. Scouting in Alsager started in February 1908 and meetings were first held at the old pumping house in Well Lane, Alsager. In 1968 Frayling Scout Hall in Cedar Avenue was built and this is where the group still hold their weekly meetings. The group are hoping to organise many events and activities throughout the year to celebrate their 100th birthday including a Special Church Service on Sunday 13th July to commemorate 100 years, an Autumn Ball, an Easter Bingo evening, a Weekend Family Camp, a Table Top Sale, as well as lots of other activities yet to be finalised. In this special year the Group are also hoping to put together a special memories chest containing memorabilia and photos of Scouting in Alsager during the last 100 years and would be very pleased to hear from anyone who has any memories, photos and stories that they would like to share. So please ask your neighbours, relatives and friends if they have any special memories of Scouting in Alsager during the last 100 years. If you would like more information about the Groups 100th birthday celebrations or if you have any memorabilia or memories that you would like to share with the Scout Group they can be contacted on 01270 884461 or 01270 882795 or via email to Don.Longhurst@btopenworld.com
