Alsager Animal Safariemail

NEWS ( 23 May 06 )
----------------------------------------
Update on safari: we now have 159 displays but by mistake we have two number 101 so that makes 160 displays in total.
We are advising hunters to write down the extra display on the bottom of the map.
Number 56 was also duplicated. One display has been altered to 159.
If you spotted 56 before it was changed it will be marked with either title.
Number 72 has been stolen along with his name and number but we are replacing the label.

It is proving very popular yet again and the whole of Alsager is going Safari Crazy. And it seems as if we have managed to get the whole age spectrum hunting. young families, teenagers, retired people and I spoke to one young genleman in his late twenties who decided to hunt for a laugh now he's addicted!

N.B. The Animal Safari GALLERY PAGE has now been set up.
If you would like your exhibit to appear in the gallery please email a photo to safari@alsager.com
The photo should show the animal in its correct location and preferably without the card showing title and number.
(If the number appears in the photo it will be blanked out before the picture goes into the gallery.)
Remember to include the exhibit title in the email.
You can also include an optional cryptic clue with the photo.

NEWS ( 14 May 06 )
----------------------------------------
Alsager is going Safari mad! Total number of displays is now 158.
Also we feel that its only fair to say that the Daiylands estate of Church Lawton has no displays. We have a new voting category this year and that is Best Educational display. All educational displays have a yellow label saying Educational display and can be found in private gardens as well as schools and nurseries.
Maps are available from Alsager shoe Repairs, Fryer's Newsagents, Shady Grove Stores, and the council Offices ' £2.00 each.

----------------------------------------
Dear Alsager Resident,
After a very successful Animal Safari last year, we have decided to run another this year and to also extend the safari area to cover Church Lawton after we had several requests in 2005.
If you would like to take part in the Animal Safari we ask that you display an animal or animals of some kind in your front garden, on your house roof or in a window where they can be seen. The animals can be made of absolutely anything; they can range from a soft toy to a picture to a floral display. Yet again we hope to make this a real community event by encouraging as many entries as possible.
In order to enter your display into the Safari, all that is required is that you complete the entry form below and return it together with a £2 entry fee to the address above or Alsager Shoe Repairs. (Cheques made payable to ‘ Alsager Carnival’).
The Animal Safari will run from Friday 12th May until Sunday 11th June and your entry will be required to be on display for this time. The aim of the Safari is to find as many animals around Alsager and Church Lawton as possible and enter their names and numbers onto an official Safari Map, which can be purchased from local shops for £2 nearer the time. There will be prizes for the public’s favourite entries and another for the most entries found.
We are also having a new prize category this year. The best voted display for school, Nurseries and all pre schools.

The deadline for safari entries is Friday 5th May. We look forward to this being as much fun as last year!

Yours Sincerely,
Lorraine Standring and Kathryn Lindblad
Alsager Carnival Committee
