Fairy Tales

June 17th 2006

This year's carnival in Alsager hit an all time high. The weather was perfect after the tremendous heat last year and a record number of floats took place in the parade.

There were a number of new organisations represented as the 'Fairy Tale Carnival' procession paraded through the centre of the town.

Organisers were particularly pleased to see a float from Excalibur School for the first time; the children had made it all themselves!
The first ever world oatcake throwing championships were decided; with the men's trophy being taken by Larry Hood and the ladies' and under 16's were both won by Charlotte Park.

This year's carnival broke a series of other records. Over 200 entries were received for the annual dog show. The field on the day seemed to have more people in attendance than previously and a number of the 40+ charity stalls were predicting greater profits than ever before.

The organising committee, which is made up from members of a number of local
volunteer organisations, know that they have an event to be proud of. The only
difficulty will be repeating this level of success next year!
