I enclose two of the 'better' one's
which are nothing to write home about but in one you can see the front
entrance, never used by pupils! and in the other, the Terraces, where some
gym equipment is being used in preparation for an open day, and the
beautiful lake can be seen in the background - so long as you close one eye
and use a magnifying glass! These are both taken in 1966.
The colour one,
taken as close as I was permitted was after the fire, I returned in 1995 to
have a look at it. I have lived in Spain since 1975 and so it was quite a
shock that such a beautiful Hall had been allowed to get into this state -
one immediately gets suspicious!!
Brereton School Bus
... I enclose a photo of me getting off the school bus
from Brereton hall at Sandbach near the crosses. I am the one just coming
down the steps and the little boy in front of me is Johnathon Boyd, his
father was the vet. and lived oposite our dental surgery - this is about
1956. School uniform, grey and red and cream straw hats or grey beret in the
winter.
Meadowlands (Alsager)
Thought you may be interested in these photos.
The first is a front of a sales brochure, for Meadowlands, 174 Sandbach Road
North, Alsager. This was our home from 1966 to 1975. I have the rest of the
sales blurb if you want.
I also send before and after photos of the house as
we moved in in 1975 and about a year later when the construction team moved
in. They kept the 'original' house but built at least 4 in it's gardens and
a whole estate in it's lands. This house was directly opposite an old
people's home, have you any idea if it is still there, a very large property
set back off the road?
